Miriam fell asleep like this during her nap today...
...she was having a hard time so I put her on our bed. When I went back to check on her she was finally asleep completely under her blanket. Silly girl.

This is the Place
Yesterday Miriam and I went to This is the Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City with some of my family. Robyn and her kids, Ashley, Laura, Natalie and Ryan and Carter, and Ryan's brother Blake were all able to come hang out with us. There were farm animals, pioneer houses, and many things to help you understand pioneer living. It was fun to spend time with family. We didn't get to see nearly everything (I didn't know there was so much to see). I was telling Laura that I must be getting old and boring because I was actually interested in the things the lady was telling us at the house we toured. Miriam had a lot of fun playing with her cousins.

18 months
We are so excited for this milestone in Miriam's life. Especially since she can start going to nursery. We took her for the first time this past Sunday. I was so nervous how she would react. Would she cry when we left? Would she stay and play with the other kids? All my fears were put to rest when we took her through the door. She went and played right away while I talked to the teacher (who happens to be my visiting teacher). When we left I told her I would be back and gave her a kiss. She waved goodbye and went right back to playing. I was definitely more sad than she was about the whole thing. When I went to pick her up she didn't want to come with me. She wanted to stay and play with the kids. I am so happy she had such a great time in nursery, but I can't believe my baby is growing up so fast.
She is starting to talk more and more each day. Sometimes I am surprised when she says new words that I didn't realize she knows. When we were out for a walk on Sunday she looked up at the sky and said "moon". Sure enough you could see the moon. I don't remember teaching her that. This week she has started using two word phrases. She says "more milk" and "big bite". We are also continuing to teach her new signs. She probably knows close to 50 signs. I am so glad we decided to teach her sign language. I am sure it will help a lot when she reaches her "terrible twos". We are hoping for less tantrums because she can communicate better with us.
Now I will bombard you with pictures.

It is hard to believe she was born 18 months ago. She is such a joy. I love watch her learn every day. Miriam makes being a parent so rewarding. We love her so much!

Down on the Farm
Tonight we went to family farm night at Thanksgiving Point. Miriam has been learning all of the signs of the animals. We thought it would be fun to take her to see the animals up close. She had a love-hate relationship with the animals. She wasn't quite sure about them up close, but when she was at a safe distance she was very excited. We got to see horses, cows, sheep, chickens, bunnies, ducks, and goats. We had a great time.
Natalie, Ryan, Carter and Laura were able to come with us to the farm. We are glad we got to spend the evening with them. Miriam just loves seeing them.

Looking Back
Remember this picture...
from this post back in December?
Look at her now.
She can't stand under the table anymore. It isn't until I look back that I really can see how much Miriam has grown.

Memorial Day Weekend
Since I am on a blogging roll, I thought I would go ahead and blog about more past events. We spent Memorial Day weekend with my parents. It was nice to be together. While we were there we got on a sporcle kick. It is a website with quizzes and such. We hooked up the laptop to the TV for a while and had endless fun. I bought Miriam some bubbles and introduced her to the fun of sidewalk chalk. She had fun playing with her cousins over the weekend. We were so glad that nicer weather finally arrived. We spent a lot of time outside playing. My dad even had some help fixing the trampoline. Of course, we also ate and ate and ate. I can't wait for the 4th of July!

May Backlog
Have I mentioned how much I love our new camera? My new picture count for the year (up through May) is 1061. Here are some pictures I have taken the past month that I haven't posted yet. (there are so many more, but you have to draw the line somewhere.)

Lack of Video Surveillance
While I was doing the dishes, Michael was playing with Miriam. When I was finished I turned around and they weren't there. I found them in the bedroom jumping on the bed. It was cute and I wanted to get a video of it. I did not succeed. Here is the reason I hardly ever post videos of Miriam:
She freaks out whenever I get out the video camera. She wants to hold it and do it herself. Why was I surprised I couldn't get the video I wanted today? It has been frustrating lately. As you know, I love taking pictures and video of my cute family. Hopefully Miriam will understand soon that she just has to smile and be cute!
