Movie time

Miriam loves watching her movies from the library

Trying to put it in the DVD player all by herself
(Don't worry library workers, I put the camera down and helped her)

On tip-toe looking for the remote.

Lookin' out our windows

Did we really wake up to snow today? It is the end of May, right?
I thought my post last year about late snow in April was bad...

Poor Miriam wanted to go outside all day. She kept looking out the window.
Luckily the forecast for the rest of the week looks much better.
We will be going to the park!

seventeen so soon

I had a very sad realization today. Miriam will be going to nursery in one more month. Are you kidding me? How did it go by so fast. Michael makes fun of me for being sad about her growing up. I just can't believe it. I am sure she will be 17 years old before I know it.

Miriam's new favorite pose

She got into her old carseat one day

She is learning to do it all by herself

I know I say this every time I post about her, but Miriam is such a joy. Her vocabulary continues to grow each day. She loves to be outside exploring the world. She is starting to want to try to do things by herself. I love watching her learn and grow.

Sign Language

Some people have asked me about the sign language I use with Miriam. I took a beginners sign language class in college and have always been interested in using it with my children. For us, it is helpful in preventing unnecessary tantrums. I am in no way an expert, but I think it has worked for Miriam. I have used my little bit of knowledge from my class along with books from the library. I also really like a couple of DVD's. There is "My First Signs"by Baby Einstein and the Signing Time series. Miriam likes to watch these movies and continues to learn signs from them. It hasn't hindered her verbal skills, in fact (in my opinion) it has helped.

Fun Filled Friday

Today we got to go to Jacob and Brooklyn's wedding. Brooklyn is Michael's cousin. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. My sister, Ashley, came to watch Miriam so we could attend. Thanks Ash! Michael's mom was able to come out and it was nice to see her again so soon. We were able to take some cute pictures on the beautiful temple grounds.

The reception was close to my parent's house so we stayed the night with them. Even though it rained on and off it was a nice day. Weddings are always a great reminder of our wedding day. Congrats to the new Hall family. (After the whole day this is the only picture I got of them. sad.)

Gray Jacket and Pigtails

I was looking through the pictures I have taken over the past few months and noticed that Miriam looks the same in a lot of them. She is always wearing her gray jacket and her hair is in pigtails. Apparently I have been on a kick with the pigtails and if it ever warms up here I can take her out without a jacket.

As a side note, so far this year I have taken 735 pictures. Obsessed much? Hopefully all my children will get this many wonderful memories preserved. I know many people say it won't happen, but I am bound and determined to keep up the photography!

Does all news have to be new?

What has the Bishop family been up to since graduation, you ask? I feel like I have had a lot to blog about, but now that I actually have a chance to sit down and post, nothing exciting comes to mind. Michael has started studying for the CPA exam. He plans to take all parts of it this summer. Studying is his full-time job this summer. He has also decided he doesn't need to shave since he no longer goes to class or work on campus. Hmm...

Miriam is having a hard week. We have decided to get rid of the pacifier. I have no idea the best way to do this, but it has been hard on all of us. She cries herself to sleep because she wants it. It breaks my heart, but it is time. Here's hoping she is better soon.

Michael received a new camera for graduation. We have been having so much fun using it. I, personally, was super excited for this. My goal for being a better photographer can begin. I have already read most of the user guide and another book about the camera. Thanks for the generous gift!

Michael finally got a start date for his job. We will be leaving Utah at the end of August. We will head to Virginia where Michael will start work mid-September. We are excited for the next chapter in our lives, but look forward to this summer and spending time together. We hope to spend as much time as possible with my family before moving across the country. Miriam is at such a fun age, so we hope to create some fun memories with her before we go.

Carter Allen Hendricks

We just want to say congratulations to my sister and her husband who welcomed their baby boy to their family yesterday. He is a little guy, but cute as can be. We are so excited for them!

Miriam wasn't sure about the baby at first, but really loved holding her little cousin.
