Today is the day... Simon is one!

Round Two

This morning we were invited to another Easter Egg hunt with some friends.

I don't know what Miriam liked more, getting candy or playing in their backyard. 

She had so much fun that I never thought we would get her to leave. 

Simon found two eggs and just held onto them the whole time again. 

He loved watching Miriam run around.

First Egg Hunt

This is the first year we have done an egg hunt with Miriam and Simon. We got together with some friends tonight for an Easter egg hunt. It always cracks me up when Miriam experiences new things. She is not aggressive and tends to lean toward being a follower. She wasn't sure at first about hurrying around and picking up eggs. However, because she helped me fill our eggs earlier I think it clicked quickly that there was candy and prizes inside. She was still particular about what eggs she would pick up (as seen in the video). She is such a dainty girl... and yes she picked out her outfit; complete with cardigan, belt, and necklace.

 Before the hunt...

 ...after all the eggs were found.

Simon didn't really understand what was going on, but he "found" one egg and held onto it for a long time. These are times I think it would be nice if he could walk. It would be fun for him to get down and run around with the other kids, but he isn't ready so neither am I.

Growing Imagination

"Hey Mom, I don't love taking a bath"

Miriam's Prayer: I am thankful for my big girl bed (looks at me... I nod encouragement) and Simon's blue eyes. Bless Dad at the airport (he isn't traveling this week... the poor girl is confused). Amen.

Listening to the weather report on the morning news: "Virginia, that is where we live on earth."

Miriam was trying to wrestle with me and I asked her not to jump on my head. She responded with, "This is no fun at all".

Mom: Miriam you are so silly. Where did you come from?

Miriam: I was in your belly.

"I have to put my corners under the blanket in case a bear comes" (Her corners are the corners of her blanket. She has two favorites that she holds while she sleeps. In fact she will come wake me up at night if she can't find the right ones.)

I wish I could keep up with all the wonderful things Miriam says. It is hard to remember to write them all down. She is certainly getting so smart. Miriam's imagination is so much fun.

Sweet Child of Mine

Miriam can go from sad and pouting...

...to happy and running in a matter of thirty seconds.

Take a Stand

I got Simon to stand for a couple of seconds. 

However he gets nervous and lunges for me when I let go.
