Homecoming Parade

Friday we went to the Homecoming parade in Michael's hometown. Let's face it, the only reason to go to a parade where you know no one is to make your kids happy. We came prepared with a bag to fill with candy. It was a beautiful day. No jackets needed. I am amazed by the amazing fall weather we are enjoying this year. I just can't get enough.

Simon was a little overwhelmed at first. The band was really loud when you were that close. He stayed close by me looking for reassurance. Once he figured out that candy was being thrown, he was so excited. Miriam remembered what to do from last year; look cute and wave then candy will be thrown right to you.

Simon couldn't wait to open some candy and have a taste. Even though it was a short little hometown parade, I think the kids had fun. We got plenty of candy.

Later that night we left the kids at home with Grandma. Michael and I went on a date in anticipation of his busy season. We had a nice time together. We are grateful that Michael's Mom is close enough to watch the kids every once in a while. Maybe we should take advantage more often!

Perfect Weather

I have felt really bad about not taking the kids out to play as much as I would like. During the summer it was just so hot. Now that it is cooling off I feel like I have no more excuses. I need to take them outside. Miriam was asking all day to ride her bike. After Simon's nap I carried it down the two flights of stairs (living in a condo is such a pain sometimes) so we could ride around the building.

Simon was content to follow Miriam around on the sidewalk.

It has been a while since she has been on her bike. It took a little bit, but once she got the hang of it she did pretty well. She still needs to grow into the bike a bit (next year should be perfect). I was so proud of my little girl.

In other news, what happened to my baby boy? Where did this fun little boy come from? I can't believe how much Simon has grown up this summer.

Always willing to smile at the camera.

Even though it didn't last very long, it was good to get out. A 70 degree afternoon is a perfect time to get out and get some fresh air. I just hope it doesn't get too cold too soon.

Hanging Out

Today is a day to relax. Miriam woke up with a little bit of a cold yesterday and today it is worse. She didn't want to get dressed, so I let her stay in her pajamas. She just seems to look so sad when she is sick.

It is a good thing we went to the library last night and got three Go, Diego, Go DVD's. She is set for the day. Since she doesn't feel good I decided to bum around as well. We are just going to hang out today.

We will definitely have naps later. The weather doesn't look so great for tomorrow (chance of snow) so maybe we will just carry over into tomorrow. We can do what we want... right?

First Warm Day

Today was the first warm day of the year. It actually got up to about 65 degrees. That is pretty great for February right? I decided we should enjoy it while it lasts. I took Miriam over to a little park we have in our complex. It isn't really exciting (slide, big girl swings, and two rocking things), but Miriam was so glad to be outside that it didn't really matter. The only swings they had were the big ones. I wasn't sure how Miriam would do, but she did okay. I told her to hold on and hold still while I pushed her.. a very little bit. She didn't go high like she does in the enclosed swings, but she sure didn't want to get off and go home.

Tomorrow is supposed to be just as nice, maybe we can do it again.

Snow Day

Once I saw the weather forecast for today I knew that we would be staying home. It was a fun day spent crafting and playing together. Miriam enjoyed playing doctor with her dolls while I was cutting out fabric circles. I even taught Miriam how to use scissors, was this a good idea? We will have to see if she continues to follow the scissor rules.

When it looks like this outside...
...there is no better place to be than inside with your little girl, doing girly things. The only two things that would have made it better were Michael and a nice warm fire in my fireplace (we have no wood) to keep us comfy and warm. I think I will go make hot chocolate before Miriam heads to bed.

Lookin' out our windows

Did we really wake up to snow today? It is the end of May, right?
I thought my post last year about late snow in April was bad...

Poor Miriam wanted to go outside all day. She kept looking out the window.
Luckily the forecast for the rest of the week looks much better.
We will be going to the park!

It comes in spurts

One day we think Spring just might be here, then the next day it is snowing. That is Utah weather for ya! Yesterday we took Miriam to the park to enjoy some sunshine.

However, today and tomorrow are filled with rain and snow. I guess we will just take it as it comes and enjoy the outdoors when we can. Hopefully Spring will really arrive soon. We are looking forward to many more trips to the park.

Cabin Fever

Dear Winter,

We feel like we have been confined to our apartment for too long. We are extremely ready to get out and do some outdoor activities. We shouldn't complain too much (since Michael's parents are literally stuck in their house due to the huge snow storm you dropped in the east), but we are ready for spring. Miriam should start walking just in time to go outside and play. We can go on family walks, take Miriam to the park, and take some cute outdoor pictures of Miriam. We have a lot of cute dresses for Miriam to wear this spring/summer and you are not letting that happen. So winter, please go away... come again another day.

Where did Spring go?

Remember in my last post how I mentioned that we were so glad that spring had finally arrived? Well, what happened to it? This is what we woke up to this morning.

Luckily later in the day it was already melting, but the cold stayed behind.

Utah Weather and Football Games

Isn't it funny how the in last BYU pictures we were bundled up? Now two weeks later we were back to warmer weather... that is Utah weather for you. One more home game so we will have to see what the weather holds.

Fifth home game.
