Does all news have to be new?

What has the Bishop family been up to since graduation, you ask? I feel like I have had a lot to blog about, but now that I actually have a chance to sit down and post, nothing exciting comes to mind. Michael has started studying for the CPA exam. He plans to take all parts of it this summer. Studying is his full-time job this summer. He has also decided he doesn't need to shave since he no longer goes to class or work on campus. Hmm...



Miriam is having a hard week. We have decided to get rid of the pacifier. I have no idea the best way to do this, but it has been hard on all of us. She cries herself to sleep because she wants it. It breaks my heart, but it is time. Here's hoping she is better soon.



Michael received a new camera for graduation. We have been having so much fun using it. I, personally, was super excited for this. My goal for being a better photographer can begin. I have already read most of the user guide and another book about the camera. Thanks for the generous gift!



Michael finally got a start date for his job. We will be leaving Utah at the end of August. We will head to Virginia where Michael will start work mid-September. We are excited for the next chapter in our lives, but look forward to this summer and spending time together. We hope to spend as much time as possible with my family before moving across the country. Miriam is at such a fun age, so we hope to create some fun memories with her before we go.

happenings of the day

drum roll please... Michael took his last final exam as a college student. All he has to do is turn in a completed project on Wednesday and then GRADUATION here we come. We are excited to celebrate next weekend with family and friends. (as a side note i am extremely bummed about the weather forecast. we have had beautiful weather, 70 degrees and sunny, for about 3-4 days and it is supposed to last 2-3 more days. as soon as graduation comes it is going to drop to 55 degrees and rain is in the forecast for the next week. what is up with this?)

I was so excited about dinner tonight. Hot house cucumbers were on sale and so I figured we would make a nice Greek salad with some chicken. Michael lived in Greece for about 2 years when he was very little and so his family loves Greek food, which is something I do not mind one bit. It is all very delicious. (Mom Bishop stop reading now and pick up at the next paragraph.) As we sat down to eat Michael stopped for a minute and then asked, "Did you get any feta?". What? Feta? AHHHH!!! I forgot to buy the feta cheese. Then Michael says, "Feta is probably my favorite part of Greek salad". FAILURE!

Tonight we decided to cut Miriam's hair. The back of her hair has never been trimmed and so it was starting to look mullet-ish. I trimmed up the back to even it all out from her bald spot growing back in. It looks much better and I wish I would have remembered to take pictures.

Almost done!

It's a Brand New Day

We are alive and well after a not so fun break. Miriam got a bad cold and ear infection after Christmas. After 10 days on an antibiotic she broke out in a rash yesterday. We took her to instacare today and figured out she is allergic to penicillin. The poor thing. Michael and I have both been battling colds ourselves. We are just left with a cough. Being sick definitely helps us be more grateful for our health. We will be glad for the cold and flu season to end.

Michael has begun his last semester of college. We paid our last tuition and are excited for graduation in April. It doesn't look like he will have it too bad. He is also taking a class he wants to take for the first time in 5 years of education... GOLF! It will be fun for him.

I have enjoyed being back home this week with Miriam. As much fun as Christmas was, I was glad to get back in the swing of things and have Miriam sleep in her own bed. We didn't get much rest with all the sickness. I have the house back in order and to my liking.

We haven't taken very many pictures this month. Here are a couple of Miriam in the car wearing my sunglasses. We will have to find her some of her own this summer. She loves to put them on.



Miriam didn't grow much physically since her nine month appointment. She is still 20 pounds and 30 inches long. However, she has grown up a lot this past month. She has six teeth now. She is learning to eat more things, even milk. She loves to play with all of her new toys. She continues to learn things so fast. She is starting to copy sounds we make and things we do. As I have said many times before, she is a complete joy.

We're back

We have made it back to Utah for our last year of school. We will be moving back into our apartment tomorrow. We are excited for our last year at BYU. We look forward to taking advantage of all the opportunities we have while we are here. Michael is mostly looking forward to graduation in April. We had a wonderful summer, but are looking forward to a regular routine again.

BYU and beyond

It is past due for an update from us. We are finally starting to feel settled from the move. Michael has been busy with internship applications for next summer. He applied to all of the Big Four accounting firms. Our first city choice is Washington D.C. and the second is Sacramento, CA. He has first round interviews the next two weeks... then we will see what happens. The firm he ends up accepting an internship to is most likely where we will end up after graduation. So, this has been a big choice for us. We are excited to see what happens. We will know about the internship by Thanksgiving.

I have finally reached a point of boredom. After resting all summer, I feel much better and want something to do. I decided to start working for Provo City Schools as a substitute teacher. This way I can earn a little extra money and have something to do some days during the week. I liked this option because I have the choice of how much I want to work.

Even though we are looking forward to leave Provo after graduation we are trying to enjoy the last two years of school as much as we can. We got all sports passes and have attended two football games already. It has been hot at the beginning of the season, but we can't complain too much when we are winning!

Vacation and Plans for the Future

Well, May has come and almost gone without a single update from us. Here is what is going on:

We are in Ashburn, VA right now visiting with Michael's family. We surprised his Mom and sisters last night and showed up after a 2 1/2 day drive across the country. We will be staying here until Tuesday afternoon to enjoy the Memorial Day weekend with them. We are excited to have a vacation. We will post some pictures from our trip.

Michael got accepted to the MAcc program at BYU. (I have to show him off because he doesn't like to toot his own horn. As you can tell from the lack of Michael posts.) It was pretty competitive this year for the stem he applied to, and I am so proud of him for getting accepted. This means we will be in Provo for two more years. Michael will graduate in April 2010 with a Masters Degree in Accounting.

We are moving next weekend. Then moving again at the end of August, before school starts. Sound crazy? Believe me... it will be worth it. I look forward to settling into our condo in August where we will be for the next two years.

We are alive and well. We are excited for what the future has in store for us. Stayed tuned.
