Father's Day
Happy
Father's Day to all the Dad's in our lives. Thanks for all you do for
us and the great examples you are for us. A special happy day to my dear
husband who makes Miriam, Simon, and I so very happy. We are one lucky
bunch. Michael was informed last week that he got promoted to Senior! We are so excited that his hard work is paying off. We are so proud of his accomplishments at work. Michael, congrats and we love you more than words can say!

Birthday Celebration
Before Michael came home from work yesterday, we went out and wrote him a birthday message in chalk. The kids had fun getting ready to surprise Dad.
As soon as he came home Miriam wanted him to open her card... well actually she wanted to open his card for him. She was just too excited to wait.
After she got that out of her system we could talk about my surprise. Michael's Mom lovingly agreed to watch the kids while we went on a date. (Our first since our anniversary in December.) She took the kids to Chick-fil-A and we headed to Fireworks Pizza. In Michael's words when asked what he wanted to say about our date, "we ate very delicious pizza". After we got back Miriam and Simon helped him open presents. (Rebecca and Mom joined us, but Dad was in NYC and missed the celebration.) He got some really exciting stuff including a wireless router and butane fuel. Michael's parents got us tickets to the National Aquarium in Baltimore so we look forward to that trip soon.
We finished off the evening with some homemade ice cream made with a vanilla bean (brought back from Mexico). It was so rich and delicious. Michael had a very happy birthday indeed.

In all the excitement I almost forgot...
... Michael is officially a CPA!!! Between Miriam's birthday and Christmas this great news almost slipped through the cracks. Michael even asked me if I was going to blog about it. Well, I got a little behind, but we got the news that Michael has finished all the requirements to become a CPA. We were hoping it would all come together by the end of the year and it did... just in time. Way to go Michael. We are so excited for you.

THIS JUST IN
I just got a call from Michael about 10 minutes ago, I am so excited that I had to get on and post right now. I want everyone to know how wonderful he is. I am so proud of his accomplishment. Are you ready to read some bragging about my husband?
MICHAEL PASSED ALL FOUR PARTS OF THE CPA EXAM!!!
I am so happy that he worked so hard all summer to take the test. He is so smart (he did really well on all four parts). It is such a relief to have it all over so he can now concentrate on starting his new job. Michael was training at his new job all last week and will finish training this week. Way to go Michael!

The Start of Real Life
Michael's first day of work is today. He is starting life as a real working man. I am so proud of how hard he has worked to get here. He is a great husband and father. We have enjoyed having him home with us for the past three weeks, but I know he is ready to start working again. Michael was very excited to head off to the office today. He doesn't enjoy sitting around too much. Miriam will miss having her dad around to help her all day.

I'm so glad...
...when Daddy comes home, glad as I can be.
Miriam loves to go outside and wait for Michael to cross the street, turn the corner, and head toward her. We try to go out and meet him whenever we can. I am so glad I decided to take my camera today to capture her love for Daddy.

happenings of the day
drum roll please... Michael took his last final exam as a college student. All he has to do is turn in a completed project on Wednesday and then GRADUATION here we come. We are excited to celebrate next weekend with family and friends. (as a side note i am extremely bummed about the weather forecast. we have had beautiful weather, 70 degrees and sunny, for about 3-4 days and it is supposed to last 2-3 more days. as soon as graduation comes it is going to drop to 55 degrees and rain is in the forecast for the next week. what is up with this?)
I was so excited about dinner tonight. Hot house cucumbers were on sale and so I figured we would make a nice Greek salad with some chicken. Michael lived in Greece for about 2 years when he was very little and so his family loves Greek food, which is something I do not mind one bit. It is all very delicious. (Mom Bishop stop reading now and pick up at the next paragraph.) As we sat down to eat Michael stopped for a minute and then asked, "Did you get any feta?". What? Feta? AHHHH!!! I forgot to buy the feta cheese. Then Michael says, "Feta is probably my favorite part of Greek salad". FAILURE!
Tonight we decided to cut Miriam's hair. The back of her hair has never been trimmed and so it was starting to look mullet-ish. I trimmed up the back to even it all out from her bald spot growing back in. It looks much better and I wish I would have remembered to take pictures.

Conclusion to our summer in Virginia
Michael came home from work yesterday with a paper that said:

We are so excited for this opportunity that lies before us. Michael worked hard this summer and we are so proud of him. We will get an official written offer soon and will know for sure what our future holds. We are looking forward to returning to Utah this week to finish the last year of school.
Congratulations on your offer to join Pricewaterhouse Coopers as a full time associate!
