First Trip to the Park
We took Miriam to the park last night. It was her first time on the swings. I didn't think she would care too much, but she ended up loving the swings. She thought it was just great. She would flail her arms and legs when we pushed her gently in the swing. She is so expressive with everything she does. Being a parent is so fun.

Mom and Dad got to enjoy a little time on the swings too. We have had some wonderful weather while here in Virginia. The nights are perfect for walks.

4th of July
On Saturday we went into Washington DC to watch the fireworks with all of Michael's family. Rachel, Shaun, Sarah, Chris, and Nathan flew in to surprise Dad for his 50th birthday. The weather ended up being great; not too hot and humid.

6 months
Miriam is such a big girl. She is now 6 months old. She is growing so big. She weighs about 19 pounds and is about 28 inches long. For the most part she can sit up on her own. I still don't leave her alone because she gets tired and just falls back. She has discovered her tongue and loves to talk/babble. She is quite the noisy little girl, but it keeps us smiling. She has loved having so much attention from Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Liz, and Aunt Becky. She is learning to work the crowd. These past six months have been wonderful. We love being parents and look forward to many more great moments.

Miriam's First Solid Food
Miriam has been patiently waiting to try solid food. For the past month she just stares at us longingly whenever we are eating. She loves to play with a spoon and feel a part of the meal. Last night we finally decided to have her try rice cereal.
Overall it was a huge success. She loved it. She was very good at keeping it down. I think Michael even enjoyed it too.
(By the way, I cut my hair.)

Monumental Night
Last night Michael and I went out to dinner to celebrate the first week of his internship being completed (and his birthday). We tried a place his parents recommended called Sweet Water Tavern. I had a crab cake and filet mignon. Michael had the baby back ribs. It was delicious, but very hard at the same time. This was all because it was the first time I left Miriam. Luckily I have great in-laws who volunteered to watch her. Any mother out there knows how I feel. I cried on the way there. I am not afraid to admit it. I missed her. How could I not? Look how cute she is!
In the end, it was good for us to get out on a date. I am very glad we went. We had a great time, but I was glad to be home. I hope it gets easier.

Safe and Sound
We made it to Virginia. The trip went better than expected. Miriam was so good on the airplane. The lucky man sitting next to us even commented after we landed that she was such a good baby. We look forward to all the fun experiences we will have this summer.
